Police officers from Bolesławiec detained a man who had been harassing his former partner. The suspect could not come to terms with the breakup, visited the woman at her home, called her and sent her numerous text messages.

The 38-year-old from Bolesławiec County has faced similar charges before; after the end of an earlier relationship, he also harassed his former partner.

The suspect was charged with persistent harassment. In addition, the prosecutor imposed a restraining order prohibiting the perpetrator from approaching or contacting the victim and her children.

What does the law say?

Article 190a § 1. Anyone who, through persistent harassment of another person or a person close to them, causes that person to have a justified sense of threat, humiliation or torment, or substantially violates their privacy, shall be subject to imprisonment for between 6 months and 8 years.
