Officers tried to stop the driver of a Ford for a traffic check. – However, despite the light and sound signals instructing him to stop, he began to flee – reports Superintendent Agnieszka Goguł, press officer for the Commander of the County Police Headquarters in Zgorzelec. – After driving several hundred metres, he lost control of the vehicle, hit a roadside wall and was detained.

The driver turned out to be a 49-year-old resident of Lubań County, who was travelling with a 39-year-old female passenger.

What is more, it emerged that the driver was drunk; he had more than one per mille of alcohol in his system. Furthermore, he was subject to a court-imposed driving ban, while the car he was driving had neither a valid technical inspection nor compulsory third-party liability insurance.

The passenger was taken to hospital, but fortunately she did not suffer any serious injuries.

The irresponsible 49-year-old will now face court for the offences committed. Police:

We remind you that failing to stop for a traffic check, driving while intoxicated and violating a court-imposed driving ban carry a penalty of up to 5 years in prison.
