A serious road accident occurred on Saturday, 9 August this year, in the afternoon, on the road from Gromadka to Krzyżowa. As determined by officers from Bolesławiec:
A 53-year-old resident of Gromadka municipality, driving a Volkswagen Polo passenger car while heavily under the influence of alcohol, failed to adjust his speed to the road conditions. As a result of losing control of the vehicle, he veered into a roadside ditch and then hit a tree, causing the vehicle to overturn onto its roof.
It turned out that the man was completely drunk; he had nearly 3 per mille of alcohol in his system. The driver was travelling alone. He was injured and taken to hospital.

We appeal to all road users to exercise caution and remain sober behind the wheel. Driving after consuming alcohol is extremely irresponsible and can lead to tragedy.
Driving a vehicle while intoxicated is punishable by up to 3 years in prison.
