Officers from Bogatynia, while on duty in the town, attempted to stop the driver of a Peugeot for a roadside check. – The driver ignored the light and sound signals directed at him and continued his escape – reports Superintendent Agnieszka Goguł, press officer for the Commander of the District Police Headquarters in Zgorzelec. – He was arrested a moment later.
It turned out that the 29-year-old driver had as many as seven court-ordered driving bans, and the car he was driving was not approved for road use. The spokeswoman said: – Police officers found a bag of methamphetamine on the man, and a test showed that he was under its influence.
That was not the end of it. Superintendent A. Goguł:
An additional check of the available systems showed that he was wanted by the German authorities in order to establish his place of residence.
Moreover, during his arrest, the 29-year-old violated the bodily integrity of the officers intervening and, by threatening them, attempted to force them to abandon their official duties.
The arrested man has already been charged and will face the court. He could face up to five years in prison.
