A policewoman from the Legnica police headquarters spotted a very young duck during an afternoon run. The injured bird was lying right beside the road. – The animal was unable to stand or move. The officer reacted instantly: she stopped her training and did not hesitate for a moment to save the helpless creature – reports Commissioner Jagoda Ekiert, press officer of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica.
The duckling was weak, probably injured, and in a dangerous location. The spokesperson:
Showing great empathy and responsibility, the policewoman gently took the duck home. There, she secured it, gave it water and provided a quiet environment. Realizing that the animal needed specialist help, she contacted a foundation that assists wild animals and transported the duck to the foundation in Raczkowa.
The officers conclude: – This seemingly minor situation nevertheless perfectly shows that a police officer is ready to help, not only during working hours. Sometimes help does not arrive with flashing lights, but with empathy, a quick decision and a heart ready to act—even in sportswear and after hours.
And they add: – This is another example that police officers are close to people and animals. Ready to help wherever it is needed. It does not matter whether it is a major operation or a small but important gesture. Because empathy is part of the uniform—something that cannot be taken off after duty.
