Police appeal for particular caution on the road:
Experience shows that even a moment of inattention can lead to dramatic consequences. (...)
- Drivers – remain especially vigilant near pedestrian crossings. As you approach a crossing, reduce your speed and be ready to stop the vehicle. Older people often move more slowly – give them time and space to cross the road safely. Remember that, under the regulations, pedestrians have priority at a crossing.
- Pedestrians – before entering a crossing, make sure the driver can see you and will have time to stop. Even if you have priority, follow the principle of limited trust.
- Cyclists – comply with the regulations and pay attention to pedestrians, especially at cycle crossings and near pedestrian crossings. Use helmets and reflective elements – they increase your visibility and safety.
And concludes: – Let this tragic accident be a warning to all of us and an impulse to reflect on our own behavior on the road.
