Police officers from Bolesławiec, working together with Border Guard officers from Zgorzelec, detained two foreigners who had been convicted by final court judgments of crimes committed in the territory of the Republic of Poland. Who was detained?
A 25-year-old Ukrainian citizen who had been living in Bolesławiec for some time was convicted of using a forged document. On this basis, the commander of the Border Guard Post in Zgorzelec issued a decision requiring the foreigner to return to his home country, together with a ban on re-entering the Schengen Area. Officers: – The ban applies for five years. The convicted man was escorted to the Border Guard Post in Medyka, where he was handed over to the Ukrainian side.
In the case of the 43-year-old, who was convicted of driving while intoxicated during his stay in Poland, steps were also taken to issue a decision obliging him to leave the territory of the Republic of Poland. Police: – However, around the same time, the man submitted an application to the Office for Foreigners for international protection, which meant that he had to be released until the application in question was considered.
In accordance with the applicable procedure, proceedings requiring both detainees to return to their home countries were initiated. One of the men has already left the territory of the Republic of Poland.
