The incident occurred on March 28, 2025, at approximately 1:00 a.m. The Jelenia Góra police headquarters reported:

A 41-year-old man called the emergency number 112 to report that he could see a man intending to take his own life by jumping from a sixth-floor window.

Police officers from Jelenia Góra and Karpacz, two fire service units, a medical rescue team and a fire service vehicle with a ladder were immediately dispatched to the scene.

The result? Officers searched the area around the building, the balconies and the roof, but did not find a single person in need of assistance.

Police:

During the operation, officers noticed a man who was watching the intervention with a smile. After checking his identity, it turned out that he was a 41-year-old man currently working at one of the hotels in Karpacz.

During the proceedings, it emerged that he was the person who had made the false report.

Police headquarters: “Misleading emergency services and triggering an unnecessary intervention resulted in documentation being prepared for a penalty application. The man was informed of the legal consequences of his actions. It turned out that this was not the first time the 41-year-old had misled officers, triggering unnecessary emergency-service activity through a false report.

The “caller” was drunk, with almost 2 per mille of alcohol in his system; he was taken into police custody. Officers:

We remind you that reporting false incidents engages emergency services that could otherwise be helping people genuinely in need. Every such action carries legal consequences.
