The past weekend proved extremely difficult for the equipment and facilities at sports venues managed by the Municipal Sports and Recreation Centre in Bolesławiec. Unfortunately, the vandals showed no mercy! Benches, rubbish bins, seats, as well as football goal nets and basketball nets were destroyed at sports fields, playgrounds, recreation areas and other locations.
According to the municipal office, the acts of vandalism were reported to the Bolesławiec police.
Since the beginning of the year, MOSIR has been dealing with acts of vandalism that have affected not only sports equipment, but also the fencing, stands, the entrance barrier and a slide. The estimated cost of the damage is as much as 20,000 złoty—money that could have been allocated to developing the infrastructure and improving conditions for our athletes and residents.
Once again, all that remains is to appeal to the vandals not to destroy something that is a public good. They should use their excess energy in some creative way. We would also like to remind them that such an act of vandalism may result in a sentence of between three months and as many as five years in prison.
