Bolesławiec criminal investigators recovered a passenger vehicle stolen several hours earlier in Germany. – At one of the car parks in Bolesławiec County, a young man was sitting behind the wheel of a passenger car with German registration plates, nervously looking around – explains junior inspector Anna Kublik-Rościszewska, press officer of the County Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec. – The officers, wanting to find out the reason for the man's nervous behaviour, carried out a check.

She adds: – The answer to the very first question confirmed that the officers' suspicions were correct.

When the 23-year-old was asked about the vehicle's key, he replied that he did not have it. The spokeswoman:

A check of the car in police systems provided a broader picture of the situation, as it had been registered as lost as a result of a crime.

The Belarusian citizen, who has been living and working in Poland for some time, was detained and questioned. The 23-year-old explained the circumstances in which he had become the vehicle's driver. The Audi passenger car, worth PLN 120,000, had been stolen from a property located more than 550 kilometres from Bolesławiec.

The suspect will face charges of burglary, a crime committed jointly with other people. The prosecutor placed the suspect, who lives in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, under police supervision and banned him from leaving the country.

He faces up to 10 years in prison for the crime committed.
