Bolesławiec traffic police decided to check the driver of a passenger car during a speed check in a built-up area. – The driver was travelling at 76 km/h in an area where the speed limit is 50 km/h – explains Assistant Inspector Anna Kublik-Rościszewska, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec. – Despite being signalled to stop, the driver failed to comply with the order.
The officers set off after him. The fugitive still did not react and at one point turned into a wooded area, where he abandoned the vehicle after several hundred metres. The spokeswoman said: – Further action by the officers led to the man’s arrest. The reason for the 22-year-old’s behaviour was quickly explained.
The resident of Bolesławiec County decided to flee because the vehicle he was driving was not registered and did not have compulsory insurance. What is more, the plates fitted to it belonged to another car. In addition, the 22-year-old did not have a driving licence, was under the influence of drugs and had methamphetamine on him.
The officers summed up the case:
The young man achieved a particularly disgraceful accumulation of offences: during a single car trip, he committed several crimes and misdemeanours. The acts he committed could result in serious financial and criminal consequences, including up to five years in prison.
