Thermal modernisation of the “Handlówka” buildings in Bolesławiec

One of the main investment tasks in the county budget is the project entitled “Thermal Modernisation of the Buildings of the School Complex of Commerce and Services in Bolesławiec”. The total cost of this investment is PLN 6,331,730, of which PLN 3,115,865 will be spent in 2025. A significant portion—PLN 2,049,999—is funding from the European Funds for Lower Silesia under the 2021–2027 Programme. The remaining PLN 1,065,866 comes from the budget of Bolesławiec County. The same amount, divided between own and EU funds, is planned for 2026.

The project involves modernising the school buildings to improve their energy efficiency, which will reduce operating costs and improve the comfort of learning. The investment is scheduled for completion at the end of 2026.

Renovation of the roof and historic attic at the “Ekonomia” school

Another planned investment is the renovation of the roofing and attic in the historic buildings of the General and Vocational School Complex in Bolesławiec. The total value of the project is PLN 963,087. This year’s expenditure will amount to PLN 476,610. The investment is co-financed by the Government Fund “Polski Ład—Strategic Investment Programme”. PLN 455,700 has been allocated for this purpose from the programme, while the remaining PLN 20,910 will be provided by the budget of Bolesławiec County. Renovating the roof and attic is not only a matter of aesthetics but also of ensuring the safe use of the buildings, which form part of Bolesławiec’s historical heritage.

These works will improve the technical condition of the buildings, enhancing the comfort and safety of students and teachers.

This is not the end of the major investments at this school. The 2025 budget plan also includes a comprehensive renovation of the ZSOiZ façades. The value of this undertaking is PLN 675,379, of which PLN 392,000 comes from the Government Fund Polski Ład—Strategic Investment Programme, while PLN 283,379 represents Bolesławiec County’s own contribution. Renovating the façades will not only improve the schools’ appearance but also protect the buildings from further deterioration, which is particularly important in the case of historic structures. It is worth noting that the works are already under way, and the final completion of this substantial undertaking is planned for the end of the current year.

Adapting buildings to fire-safety and sanitary requirements

Safety-related investments also include adapting educational institutions to fire-safety and sanitary requirements. PLN 370,000 has been earmarked for this purpose in 2025, of which PLN 170,000 comes from the County’s own funds and environmental-use fees.

Adapting buildings to modern safety standards is essential to ensure good conditions for both students and staff. This task includes measures to improve the safety of using the facilities. In addition to major investments, the county budget also provides funds for ongoing renovation work in schools and educational institutions. These measures include minor repairs, maintenance and improvements aimed at keeping the buildings in suitable technical condition and ensuring a comfortable learning environment.

Safety and preserving heritage

Investments in the education sector of Bolesławiec County for 2025 demonstrate a firm commitment to improving learning conditions and safety in schools. Thanks to funding from external programmes, the County can carry out costly projects that will significantly improve the quality of educational infrastructure. It is also worth noting that these measures are intended not only to improve energy efficiency and safety but also to preserve and renovate the region’s valuable historical heritage.
