On February 11, 2025, at approximately 7:10 a.m., the duty officer of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra was notified that 7 artillery fuzes, 7 mortar shells and an artillery shell from the Second World War had been found in a forest in Piechowice.

Until the bomb-disposal specialists from the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment in Bolesławiec arrived, the site was secured by police officers from Szklarska Poręba, the mine and bomb-disposal reconnaissance team from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra, and forest rangers.
