The 38-year-old was caught first. – A test with a drug analyzer showed that the driver of the Renault passenger car had amphetamine and methamphetamine in his system – reports asp. szt. Monika Kaleta from the Press Section of the Voivodeship Police Headquarters. – As if that were not enough, the man did not have a driving licence.

The man’s blood was collected for further testing.

That was not the end of it, however. The spokesperson:

When the police procedures were complete, the man’s wife arrived to pick him up. The 41-year-old woman was sitting in the driver’s seat, with her husband as a passenger, and they set off on their way home. After a few metres, the same police officers once again activated the emergency signals in their patrol car and began checking the same vehicle for the second time that night, although this time another road user was behind the wheel. Like her husband several hours earlier, the woman was tested with a drug analyzer. The result was identical to that of her husband. After collecting her blood and completing the formalities, the officers confiscated the 41-year-old’s driving licence.

The officers:

The couple’s further fate will be known once the test results for the collected samples are obtained. Under the applicable regulations, committing the offence of driving under the influence of drugs is punishable by up to three years’ imprisonment.

They add:

We urge drivers never to get behind the wheel after consuming alcohol or drugs. Bystanders who see an intoxicated person getting behind the wheel are asked to react immediately by preventing them from driving or reporting it by calling the emergency number 112.
