– Every day, police officers inform people how dangerous and irresponsible it is to drive under the influence of drugs. A driver under their influence poses a deadly threat. Unfortunately, this knowledge does not reach all road users – notes junior aspirant Olga Łukaszewicz, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski.
On January 7, at around 2:00 p.m., officers stopped the driver of a Subaru in Mojesz. The spokesperson said: – The 28-year-old’s sobriety test raised no concerns, but his nervous behavior and appearance aroused the officers’ suspicion that he might be under the influence of drugs.
The officers’ suspicions proved correct. A drug test showed that the man had been driving his vehicle under the influence of drugs. The policewoman said: – As it later turned out, the reason for his nervousness was also the intoxicating substances he had on him.
She added:
The police found small foil packets containing dried plant material with a smell and appearance characteristic of marijuana, as well as a packet containing white crystals. Testing confirmed that these were drugs.
The 28-year-old was arrested and now faces up to three years in prison. What is more, his driving licence was seized.
