Officers from the Police Commissariat in Leśna stopped a VW Transporter during a night patrol for a roadside check. – The driver was a 23-year-old resident of Bolesławiec – reports asp. szt. Justyna Bujakiewicz-Rodzeń, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Lubań. – During routine procedures, the officers established that the driver did not have a licence to drive a vehicle and that the registration plates on the car came from a Renault Megane Scenic.

And she adds:

The young man's agitation did not escape the officers' attention. Further procedures confirmed that the law enforcement officers' suspicions were justified. A test indicated that he had most likely been driving under the influence of drugs.

Moreover, during a personal search, the officers found drugs on the 23-year-old. (They were hidden in his underwear.) A preliminary analysis showed that it was methamphetamine.

The spokesperson: – The secured substance will be submitted for further testing. Because of the suspicion that the driver was under the influence of drugs, blood was drawn from him at the hospital for testing.

The man was detained and taken to a police unit. He was charged with possession of a minor quantity of narcotic substances, an offence punishable by up to one year in prison. If the tests confirm that he was driving a vehicle under the influence of narcotic substances, he faces an additional penalty of up to two years in prison.
