A highly agitated man was sitting in the passenger seat and claimed that he had not been driving the car – reports Staff Warrant Officer Justyna Bujakiewicz-Rodzeń, press officer of the Lubań County Police Headquarters. – The officers questioned eyewitnesses to the incident, who confirmed that this very man had been driving the vehicle.
She adds: – The officers working at the scene checked what had caused this unfortunate incident. It turned out that alcohol was probably to blame. The test showed approximately 1.5 per mille of the substance in the driver’s system. The man suspected in the case became aggressive and failed to follow the police officers’ orders, so a police patrol was called for support.
And she adds: – As the man began to complain about his health, an ambulance crew was called to the scene again. The 36-year-old was taken to hospital for examinations, where blood was drawn for laboratory analysis. The vehicle was secured.
The suspect will be held responsible for causing a road collision and, once the test results are received, for driving under the influence of alcohol.
The incident occurred during the night of November 2–3, after 4:00 a.m., at 3 Maja Square in Lubań. As reported by eluban.pl:
The Ford driver most likely lost control of the vehicle and hit the monument. Judging by how his journey ended, either the road was very slippery or the driver should not really have got behind the wheel.
Fortunately, no one suffered any serious injuries. The police are investigating the causes and circumstances of the incident. Blood was drawn from the driver for testing.
