– Polkowice police officers picked up the trail of a man who, driving a stolen Mercedes, crossed the German-Polish border – explains junior inspector Przemysław Rybikowski, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Polkowice. – The driver stopped in a car park outside one of the shops in the Chocianów municipality.

The Polkowice traffic police were the first to arrive at the scene. The spokesperson says:

The suspect managed to move away from the car, but thanks to police activities at the place where the vehicle was found, he was eventually tracked down and arrested.

He adds: – The evidence gathered in the case made it possible to prove that the Bolesławiec resident had committed not only burglary of the vehicle in question, but also driving despite a court-imposed ban and driving a car with registration plates not assigned to it.

The vehicle and property found inside it, with a total value of nearly PLN 150,000, have already been returned to the owner. At the investigators’ request, the District Court in Lubin ordered the temporary detention of the Bolesławiec resident for three months.
