The incident occurred on Sunday morning. – While patrolling a rest area in the municipality of Nowogrodziec, a traffic patrol from the Bolesławiec unit stopped the driver of a passenger car – reports Asp. Sgt. Anna Kublik-Rościszewska, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec.

She added: – The officers' first concern during the inspection was the 37-year-old's sobriety. An alcohol test came back negative, but a drug test confirmed that the driver was under the influence of amphetamine.

That was not the end of it. It emerged that the man should not have been behind the wheel at all, as since 2023 he has been subject to a ban on driving all types of vehicles imposed by the District Court in Zgorzelec.

The resident of Trzebnica County was detained. He now faces up to five years in prison.
