During the filling of sandbags to build the banks near Mostowa, several dozen people came. There was a loud man in a tracksuit with a Zagłębie Lublin badge, telling jokes to entertain the group. There was a trans boy who carried heavy bags with great determination. Two economic migrants also joined them; a sizeable group of them live in the area. They went out to see the situation on the river and spontaneously joined the people working on the flood banks.

As I poured sand into the bags, I wondered whether we really need a flood to feel that we are all made of the same clay? And whether we could also enjoy one another and our diversity in times of shared fun and safety? If the trans boy had introduced himself to the Zagłębie Lubin fan, would he have been verbally abused as during the Equality March? And would that same man not have wanted to stand hand in hand with men of colour if there had been no dangerous situation?
