On Tuesday afternoon, the duty officer at the Lwówek Police unit received an unusual report. – According to the account of a resident of the Lwówek Śląski municipality carrying out renovation work, while pushing a cable through a utility room, an object resembling a hand grenade fell out – reports junior aspirant Olga Łukaszewicz, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski.
Lwówek police officers and a pyrotechnician went to the scene. The spokeswoman said: – The officers confirmed the report of unexploded ordnance. The hand grenade was heavily corroded. Due to the danger, it was necessary to evacuate five people.
The police called soldiers from the Bolesławiec Bomb Disposal Patrol of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment to the scene. The soldiers took away the unexploded ordnance.
