Zgorzelec traffic police noticed a camper van at one of the city’s intersections, slowly rolling backward. – A woman got out of the vehicle and tried to stop it – reports junior staff sergeant Aleksandra Pieprzycka from the Press Section of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Police Headquarters in Wrocław.
The officers immediately went to help and parked the vehicle at a nearby bus stop. The spokesperson said: – However, the woman’s behavior and the appearance of the vehicle, which had, among other things, a damaged ignition system, aroused the officers’ suspicions. Checking the VIN in the available databases produced no results, so through the duty officer, the police contacted officers in Germany, who reached the camper’s owner.
He was very surprised that the vehicle was no longer in the parking lot. He filed the appropriate report, valuing the lost property at more than PLN 170,000.
Policewoman:
The 30-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County who was driving the camper was arrested and taken to the Zgorzelec police headquarters. The vehicle was secured in the police parking lot and, after the procedural activities are completed, will be handed over to its owner.
The woman has already been charged with handling stolen goods. She could face up to five years in prison for the offense.
