– During a night patrol in the municipality, police officers from the Police Station in Bogatynia stopped a moped rider for a roadside check – reports Superintendent Agnieszka GogułAgnieszka Goguł, press officer for the Commander of the District Police Headquarters in Zgorzelec.

She adds: – A check of the available databases showed that the 21-year-old resident of Zgorzelec County did not have a driving licence. The moped, meanwhile, had been stolen in the Czech Republic and had registration plates belonging to another vehicle.

Additionally, a breathalyser test showed that the rider was intoxicated. The spokesperson said: – He had more than 1.5 parts per thousand of alcohol in his system.

The man was arrested and taken to the Zgorzelec police headquarters, while the vehicle was secured in the police car park.

The 21-year-old will now answer for his actions before the court. He could face up to 5 years in prison.
