Update 2024-08-08
A reader wrote to us today as follows:
This is what the situation looks like. Nothing has changed except that someone opens and closes the gate during the supposedly official hours. The village head himself found the police station locked yesterday because no one was there.
When an inquirer rings the intercom at the entrance to the police station, they are redirected to the Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters. That is how the station operates.
Update 12:25
The reader wrote to us again:
Sergeant Daria Lebiedzińska’s statement suggests that one needs supernatural abilities to read what is written on the note attached to the entrance door of the police station building in Gromadka, located more than 50 metres from the gate and wicket gate, both locked. It really makes sense.
And that this is the only information available to the police.
He also added:
Apart from that, as far as I know, the premises are currently empty, with empty desks and chairs in some of the rooms.
And during the alleged duty hours, there is not even anyone on site.
Update 2024-08-06
Sergeant Daria Lebiedzińska, deputy press spokesperson for the Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters:
The Police Station in Gromadka has been operating since 1 August 2024. Information is displayed on the station door stating on which days and during what hours officers are on duty. If an inquirer finds no one on site during the stated hours, this means that the police officers are performing their duties in the field, that is, away from the station. If the above situation occurs, a notice at the station entrance indicates what steps should be taken.
Update 14:45
After the publication of the material, whose authors were municipal officials, a reader called us, accusing us of reporting fake news about the opening of the said station:
This is what the police station looks like today at 1:30 p.m. The Municipal Office Secretariat directs inquirers to Kruszyn or Bolesławiec. Where is the information about office hours and who is on duty, contact numbers and the website? Will this station operate like the previous one? Only in the media, while in reality it will be impossible to get anything done? Please address this important issue so that the responsible people can speak and explain the current situation.
We asked the head of Gromadka Municipality about the matter. Ryszard Kawka told us that he had officially received information that the station was already open from the District Police Commander. (That is why such a text appeared on the local government’s website last Thursday.)
The head of the municipality added that he also knew that the ceremonial opening of this unit was not scheduled until September, but that the station was supposed to operate from August—officers were supposed to be on duty there.
We therefore asked the press officer of our District Police Headquarters about it. We are waiting for a response.
As reported by Gromadka Municipality, the Police Station in Gromadka began operating at the start of August, after equipment had been added and staffing completed.
Municipal officials:
The newly completed building, housing the Gromadka Volunteer Fire Department fire station and the Police Station, will initially be the workplace of five police officers. Following a positive opinion on this candidacy from the Head of Gromadka Municipality, Staff Sergeant Arkadiusz Gala was appointed head of the Police Station.
