Jelenia Góra police officially comment on the tragedy:
A fatal road accident occurred on 17 July this year, at approximately 3:20 p.m., in Piechowice – on Jeleniogórska Street along national road 3. A Hyundai passenger car collided with a Renault Master. The 76-year-old Hyundai driver died despite resuscitation efforts. Police are currently investigating the causes and circumstances of the incident.
Preliminary findings indicate that the 76-year-old Hyundai driver, travelling towards Szklarska Poręba, for undetermined reasons crossed into the opposite lane and collided with a Renault Master driven by a 37-year-old man.
The Hyundai driver died at the scene as a result of the incident. Police and the prosecutor’s office are currently investigating the circumstances of this tragic incident. On-site activities were carried out with the participation of a prosecutor and a road traffic expert.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, 16 July, on national road no. 3, near Piechowice. As reported by the jelonka.com:
(...) The Hyundai travelling towards Szklarska Poręba crossed into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a van driven by a 37-year-old resident of Żywiec.
A 76-year-old man was behind the wheel of the Hyundai and became trapped inside the vehicle. Firefighters removed him from the vehicle. Unfortunately, as a result of his injuries and despite the efforts of medical rescuers, the man died.
Police and the prosecutor’s office are determining the causes and circumstances of the incident.
