Criminal investigators from Lubin, conducting operational reconnaissance, obtained information about a person temporarily staying in our country who possessed a firearm near Legnica.
In such cases, time is of the essence.
Due to the nature of the crime and the number of people who were expected to be on the property where the weapons were stored, the investigators began cooperating with the Independent Counterterrorist Subunits from Wrocław and Opole.
The raid took place last Thursday afternoon. The counterterrorist forces, together with the Criminal Investigation Department of the Lubin Police, quickly secured the area, where they found several people of various nationalities temporarily staying in the Republic of Poland.
As a result of the operation and the search of the property and its rooms, the officers secured ammunition and cartridge cases, a revolver, and part of a detonator for an explosive device. The people in whose possession these items were found were unable to explain their origin.
During the operation, two 41-year-old men were detained. One of them was charged with illegal possession of weapons and ammunition, for which he may face up to 8 years in prison. Two other people, aged 51 and 35, were staying illegally in Poland because their permitted period of stay had expired. These people were handed over to the Border Guard.
After verification, the remaining residents of the property who were staying and working legally in Poland were released and returned to the rooms they occupied.
