Last weekend, the duty officer at the District Police Headquarters in Jawor received a report about a man running around the market square with an axe, making threats and damaging the door to one of the apartments in the city centre. The person who reported the incident estimated the damage at PLN 1,000. A police patrol was immediately sent to the scene. The aggressor turned out to be a 41-year-old resident of Jawor, who had hidden in his apartment.

As the man was not opening the door and his behaviour posed a real and immediate threat to himself and other people, the officers decided to force their way into the apartment. They found the 41-year-old locked in a room. When the man opened the door, he was immediately arrested and taken to the Jawor police station. It turned out that the aggressor was intoxicated. A breathalyser test showed 1.22 per mille of alcohol in his system.

In a conversation with the detained man from Jawor, the officers established that he had become extremely upset because his neighbour, whom he did not want to let into his apartment, had banged on the door so forcefully that he damaged the front door. The 41-year-old flew into a rage, grabbed an axe and took out his anger… also on the front door of his acquaintance’s apartment.

The suspect will answer not only for damaging property, but also for making criminal threats against his neighbour. The court will now decide his fate.
