The incident occurred in mid-May, at night, on the premises of a filling station in the village of Lipiany in Bolesławiec County. According to investigators’ findings, the perpetrator arrived in a red car without license plates. After entering the building, he had his face covered. At one point, he pulled out an axe and demanded that the employee hand over the money.

Fearing for his safety, the station employee handed the attacker PLN 500. The perpetrator immediately left the premises and drove away in an unknown direction.

After receiving the report, officers from the Police Station in Kruszyn began intensive operational activities. The officers secured surveillance footage, conducted field inquiries and analyzed information that could help identify the perpetrator.

A breakthrough came when officers determined that, several hours after the robbery, an aggressive man matching the description of the wanted individual had appeared at another filling station in Bolesławiec County. Further analysis of the material showed that the car he was driving was now black.

The officers noticed an important detail, however. Surveillance footage recorded red elements visible when the vehicle’s doors were opened, while the man’s hands were stained with black paint. Everything indicated that the car had recently been repainted to make identification more difficult. Police also determined that the vehicle had altered license plates.

As a result of joint actions by officers from Kruszyn and criminal investigators from the Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters, a 33-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County was identified and arrested. The man was staying in his hideout and tried to convince the officers that the red car had previously been stolen from him in Germany. Police quickly verified and ruled out this version of events.

The suspect was brought before the District Prosecutor’s Office in Bolesławiec, where he was charged with robbery using a dangerous tool. At the prosecutor’s request, the court ordered him to be remanded in custody for three months.

Robbery using a dangerous tool is punishable by 3 to 20 years’ imprisonment. The investigation is being conducted under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office.
