The incident occurred last Friday. Police determined that the perpetrators broke into a church in Strzyżowiec and stole altar wine, censers, Christmas baubles and lights from the sacristy. “The parish priest notified the officers about the incident,” reports staff sergeant Olga Łukaszewicz, press officer for the Lwówek police.
She adds: “The search for the perpetrators did not take long. Based on their own findings, community police officers identified two young men who might have been behind the break-in.
That same day, police officers arrived at the home of the 18-year-old, who did not expect a visit from law enforcement. The teenager was taken to a police cell. Officers also detained his 16-year-old accomplice.
Spokeswoman:
Both were charged with burglary, which they confessed to. Each of them already has property-related offenses on their record.
This crime carries a sentence of up to 10 years in prison. The case of the 16-year-old will be handled by the family and juvenile court.
