Police received a report of the theft of a mountain bike in central Złotoryja. – The bicycle was stolen during the day from the stairwell of a multi-family building, and its value was estimated at approximately 2,500 zlotys – reports aspirant Dominika Kwakszys, press officer for the Złotoryja District Police Headquarters.
She adds:
During their investigation, Złotoryja detectives established that a 33-year-old resident of Złotoryja could be connected to the theft.
The man was arrested. That same day, officers also recovered the stolen bicycle. The spokesperson said: – The 33-year-old hid it in a rather unusual place. Immediately after committing the crime, he went to a cemetery, where he hid the bicycle behind his grandmother’s grave.
The penalty for theft ranges from three months to as many as five years in prison. However, the 33-year-old is a repeat offender, so he could be imprisoned for up to 7.5 years.
