Bolesławiec detectives detained a man suspected of three break-ins and the theft of 26 batteries located at BTS stations of a mobile network.

Command:

The 40-year-old from Bolesławiec, who works as an electrician, planned to store surplus energy generated by photovoltaic panels installed at his home. To this end, he investigated where he could obtain—without incurring any costs—the components needed to create a home power storage system.

The police add: – Under cover of night, in the Warta Bolesławiecka municipality, he broke into metal cabinets located at mobile-network base stations and stole batteries, causing losses estimated at nearly PLN 50,000. He then created an electrical energy storage system from the batteries in his garage at home, where he stored surplus electricity.

What is more, several portions of methamphetamine were found on the detainee. The man was charged, confessed, and gave a statement. He now faces up to 10 years in prison.

The officers say: – Three months earlier, the suspect had been detained for property damage. At one of Bolesławiec’s self-service car washes, he cut off four metres of vacuum-cleaner hose and took it home. Police identified the 40-year-old based on surveillance footage. The severed part of the vacuum cleaner was found at the offender’s home.
