On Thursday morning, officers from the Police Station in Gryfów Śląski detained a 21-year-old resident of Lwówek County who tried to pay for goods at a petrol station with a counterfeit banknote.

– The station cashier, suspecting that the banknote was counterfeit, immediately notified the police – reports Staff Sergeant Olga Łukaszewicz, press officer of the Lwówek County Police Headquarters. – A patrol was immediately dispatched to the scene and confirmed the seller’s suspicions.

She adds: – During the proceedings involving the detainee, police officers determined that he had received the toy banknote from his 16-year-old friend. As a result of further actions, the officers also detained the minor. What is more, 25 portions of marijuana were found on the teenager.

The outcome? The police: – Both were detained and charged. The 21-year-old faces up to 8 years in prison for attempting to commit fraud. His underage friend, meanwhile, will answer before the Family and Juvenile Court for possessing narcotic substances.
