Officers of the Customs and Tax Service from the Lower Silesian Customs and Tax Office in Wrocław were patrolling the A4 motorway near Kąty Wrocławskie. – They selected a truck for a routine inspection – reports Sebastian Polański, chief specialist at the Communication Section of the Tax Administration Chamber in Wrocław. – During an inspection of the vehicle’s trailer, the officers found that two luxury vehicles were hidden behind pallets.
He adds:
The driver of the inspected truck did not have any documents concerning the vehicles being transported. After checking the database, the Customs and Tax Service officers’ suspicions were confirmed—the vehicles had been stolen in one of the European Union countries. The market value of both stolen cars exceeded PLN 660,000.
Officers of the Police Headquarters in Kąty Wrocławskie were called to the scene. The detained driver was remanded in custody for three months. He faces up to 10 years in prison.
