Over the weekend, we received the following message from a reader, who also wrote on behalf of other allotment holders:

Hello. I don't know whether I will be able to get any help from you here, but I'll try... I have a recreational allotment on al. Tysiąclecia, near Tesco. There are constant thefts and break-ins here, practically every day. The management throws up its hands and does nothing.

Maybe if someone wrote a post about this matter, they would finally do something... There is neither lighting nor monitoring by the allotments. There is a cycle path by the allotments, which also has no lighting (...). So thieves do whatever they want on our allotments. We have no strength left...

Thieves steal equipment from the allotments. Among the stolen items are, for example, a wheelbarrow, shears, and even fence posts. Fences are damaged, windows in garden sheds are smashed, and it even happened that someone unscrewed a water tap, allowing water to flow all night.

The reader claims that the police are notified about the thefts, but this brings no results. The thefts continue just as before. Among the advice allotment holders receive is to install lighting and monitoring there... Would that solve the problem?

What can be done to protect oneself from constant thefts? Does anyone have any ideas?
