The incident occurred on February 12. – At 9:50 a.m., a patrol from the Traffic Division of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica, while patrolling the S3 road, received information that an Opel was driving “the wrong way” toward Lubin – reports Aspirant Aleksandra Pieprzycka of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław. – The officers immediately headed in the indicated direction, knowing that such behavior by a driver could pose a fatal danger to other road users.

After a while, the officers noticed a vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road. The spokesperson: – As they approached it, the officers used sound and light signals as well as gestures to indicate to the driver that he was driving “the wrong way.” However, he completely ignored the police car and continued driving at considerable speed, passing vehicles traveling correctly and performing dangerous maneuvers across the entire width of the roadway.

At one point, the driver stopped his vehicle and began turning around. The man drove into the Kochlice rest area, where he abandoned his car and hid behind a wooden shelter.

This did not escape the officers’ attention, and they checked the driver’s identity. He was a 62-year-old resident of Świdnica County. Aspirant A. Pieprzycka:

During a conversation with the man, the officers suspected that he might be under the influence of drugs. A drug test showed the presence of benzodiazepine-group drugs in his system. The man’s blood was taken for further testing, and his driving privileges were suspended.

Police: – The 62-year-old will soon have to answer in court for his irresponsible behavior. Driving under the influence of narcotic substances carries a penalty of up to 3 years in prison, a substantial fine and a driving ban.
