On Saturday, we wanted to file a report of an offence. The town was empty, it was snowing, and everyone was either shopping or at home.

The police duty officer informed us that we could wait more than two hours for the report to be accepted. One woman who wanted to file a report was ahead of us. When asked how long she had been waiting, she replied that she had already lost count and did not know.

In conversations with us, police officers say that staff shortages are enormous. “The authorities are changing, but things are getting worse and worse for us,” one of them said.

The solution in this situation is to submit the report by email, but later it will still be necessary to come in and explain everything in person. The only difference is that it will be possible to arrange a specific day and time.
