The incident occurred on Sunday evening in one of the localities in Warta Bolesławiecka municipality. As we managed to establish, the man reported that his son had stolen his phone. And that he felt unwell.
When the services arrived at the scene, it turned out that the caller was intoxicated and... sleeping soundly. It also emerged that he had misled the services. (He did not feel unwell at all, and the alleged theft had not taken place).
The irresponsible man was fined under Article 66 of the Code of Petty Offences, which reads as follows:
§ 1. Anyone who:
1) wishing to cause an unnecessary action, misleads an institution providing public services or a body responsible for the protection of security, public order or health with false information or in any other way,
2) intentionally, without justified cause, blocks an emergency telephone number, hindering the proper functioning of an emergency notification centre – shall be subject to arrest, restriction of liberty or a fine of up to PLN 1,500.
§ 2. If the offence caused an unnecessary action, an additional payment of up to PLN 1,000 may be imposed.
