– A road accident occurred on Bolesławiecka Street in Chojnów. Officers from the Road Traffic Department of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica detained a 56-year-old resident of Chojnów who, while driving a Mercedes, failed to adjust his speed to the road conditions, skidded, consequently lost control of the vehicle, veered onto the left shoulder, where the car rolled over and hit a tree – reports Police Commissioner Jagoda Ekiert, press officer for the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica.

She adds: – As a result of the incident, the passenger was injured, sustaining serious bodily injuries, and was taken to hospital.

It turned out that the driver was drunk; a test showed more than one per mille of alcohol in his breath. The man was taken into police custody.

The offence carries a penalty of up to 12 years in prison, a driving ban lasting at least 3 years and no more than 15 years.
