The incident took place on September 17, at around 6 p.m., in one of the shops in Legnica. – Police findings indicate that the man entered the shop, waited until the customers had left and approached the saleswoman – reports Inspector Jagoda Ekiert, press officer of the Legnica Municipal Police Headquarters. – The 29-year-old told the woman to open the cash register and give him the money, or he would pull out the knife he had in his pocket.
At that point, a shop employee activated the hold-up alarm. This frightened the perpetrator away.
When the Legnica officers arrived at the scene, the shaken woman gave a detailed description of the aggressor. On that basis, a criminal investigator quickly identified a suspect, and the would-be thief was arrested several streets away.
The 29-year-old was taken to police custody. He could now face up to 12 years in prison.
