– During gardening work on a private property in Mściszów, the owner dug up small-arms ammunition and a grenade fuze without a firing mechanism. He immediately informed the duty officer at the Lubań Police station about the discovery – reports asp. szt. Justyna Bujakiewicz-Rodzeń, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Lubań.

A bomb-disposal and pyrotechnics patrol from the Lubań station was sent to the scene. The spokeswoman said: – The officers secured the excavation site until the arrival of the Bomb Disposal Patrol from the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment in Bolesławiec, whose soldiers took away the discovery.

Explosive materials used in military technology are, in practice, completely resistant to weather conditions and retain their explosive properties regardless of their production date. It is absolutely forbidden to touch, pick up, uncover or move unexploded ordnance that has been found, or to throw it into a fire or places such as ponds, lakes or ditches. If any objects resembling unexploded ordnance are found, particular safety precautions must be taken. The location of such a discovery should be clearly marked, secured against access by bystanders, and the Police or other services should be informed immediately.
