– On Friday evening, the duty officer at the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica was notified by a doctor at a Legnica hospital that a 2.5-month-old infant had been admitted to the ward in serious condition, with narcotic substances detected in the child’s system – reports junior sergeant Tomasz Nowak from the Press Section of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław. – The child was brought to the hospital by its father.

He adds: – Immediately after the incident, the 25-year-old mother and 30-year-old father were detained by police officers, and the examination showed that both were also under the influence of drugs.

Narcotic substances were found and secured in the suspects’ apartment. Both parents were charged by the prosecutor, and at the request of the police and the prosecutor’s office, the court temporarily remanded the extremely irresponsible couple in custody for three months.

Fortunately, the child’s life is no longer in danger.

The spokesperson said: – The suspects will now be held responsible for exposing a person under their care to the risk of loss of life or serious harm to health, an offence punishable by between three months and five years in prison. The father will additionally be held responsible for causing serious harm to health and for possession of drugs.
