On 21 July, a ceremonial assembly was held at the Old Theatre to mark Police Day. Celebrating the 104th anniversary of the establishment of the State Police, officers and employees of the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec received promotions to higher service ranks and distinctions.

The ceremony began with a report submitted by the commander to the first deputy provincial police commander in Wrocław, Insp. Norbert Kurenda. A special moment of the ceremony was a minute of silence in honour of an officer of the Traffic Division of the District Police Headquarters in Zgorzelec, who had been involved in an accident while on duty in recent days.

The district police commander in Bolesławiec, Sub-Inspector Tomasz Jagielski, welcomed the invited guests. He stressed that police officers serve by helping those in need and caring for the safety of the county’s residents. There were also words of thanks and respect, both for the officers and for representatives of the institutions with which the District Police Headquarters cooperates.

Next, Insp. N. Kurenda and Sub-Inspector T. Jagielski presented appointments to higher service ranks. Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters:

On the occasion of the 104th anniversary of the establishment of the State Police and Police Day, 26 officers received promotions. The head of the Bolesławiec police was among those promoted. The District Police Commander in Bolesławiec received his appointment during the Lower Silesian Police Day celebrations from the First Deputy Chief of Police, Chief Superintendent Dariusz Augustyniak, and the Provincial Police Commander in Wrocław, Chief Superintendent Dariusz Wesołowski.

On 20 July in Wrocław, distinctions awarded by the Minister of the Interior and Administration, Mariusz Kamiński, were also presented. Four Bolesławiec officers received Meritorious Police Officer badges.

Moreover, on the occasion of Police Day, several police officers were honoured by the heads of Warta Bolesławiecka Municipality and Gromadka Municipality.

Later, for conscientious and diligent work, the district commander honoured six unit employees. On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Bolesławiec Branch of the Association of Retired Police Officers and Pensioners, T. Jagielski was presented with a commemorative medal by Junior Inspector (ret.) Zdzisław Mirecki.

The last to speak was Insp. Norbert Kurenda, who addressed his words of thanks not only to the police officers but also to their families and loved ones, pointing out how important the support, understanding and patience of those closest to them are for officers.

Every year, on Police Day, Bolesławiec police officers honour the memory of Senior Sergeant Dariusz Chełkowski, a Bolesławiec police officer who was shot dead while on duty on 10 December 1994.
