In an email to the editorial office, the reader wrote:
I wanted to raise an issue as old as the world. Much is said about combating alcoholism in society, and there are so many appeals to stop selling alcohol to minors and people under the influence. Apparently, the law does not apply to some stores.
She added that she had repeatedly witnessed alcohol being sold to intoxicated people in one of the stores in the center of Bolesławiec.
She also emphasized:
The people buying alcohol are local fans of cheap liquor, constantly sitting around on the green area near the playroom and pharmacy, right in the center; I think we all know which men we are talking about. The municipal police have been called repeatedly about the drunk men insulting one another, but all they can do is politely ask them to stop causing disturbances, put away their beer and homemade liquor, and peacefully go their separate ways. However, this achieves nothing, because the drunkards return a moment later and continue spewing insults nonstop. I would like to remind you that children, very young ones, are playing right next to them, and they hear and often see all of this.
And she asked: – Don’t grocery-store employees and their owners see a problem with selling alcohol to intoxicated people?
