The incident occurred during the night of 24–25 May, after 4:00 a.m., at the 20th kilometre of the A4 motorway toward Wrocław, approximately level with Godzieszów. Two Mercedes vans collided there.
According to the officers’ findings, the 39-year-old Vito driver, who was carrying six passengers, crashed into the rear of the Sprinter’s trailer. As a result of the collision, one of the passengers in the first vehicle was injured; the man, who suffered a spinal injury, was taken to hospital.
Preliminary findings indicate that the 39-year-old Vito driver, a resident of Łódź Voivodeship, fell asleep at the wheel.
The officers appeal for prudence and caution on the road.
