The incident took place on May 21. The woman from Bolesławiec wrote on a social media platform the following day:
I urgently need to find the owner of a blue French bulldog from the vicinity of the Pilecki/Warszawska/Sienkiewicza housing estate areas, etc.
She added:
(...) On May 21, this woman’s dog bit my son in the courtyard at the intersection of Warszawska and Gdańska streets. The woman, who was blonde, unfortunately fled the scene. The dog was wearing pink clothing.
The case was reported to the sanitary authorities by the Bolesławiec emergency department. On Monday, the mother of 10-year-old Michał, which is the bitten boy’s name, added in her notice:
Unfortunately, if you are not found today, my son will have to go to the infectious diseases clinic tomorrow for a rabies vaccination. Woman, have the courage to come forward now, at least, so you can show the dog’s current vaccination records.
The 10-year-old’s arm hurt for half the night after the vaccination. Fortunately, the wound is healing well. Nevertheless, the injured boy’s parents notified the police. Michał’s mother told istotne.pl about the search for the person responsible for the bite and the dog’s owner:
(…) We searched nearby veterinary clinics, but unfortunately we were unable to establish anything. The municipal police were also notified. I put up posters, but the woman has disappeared without a trace. Nobody knows anything and nobody knows this woman.
She also added:
Yesterday (May 23 – istotne.pl editorial note), my son was unfortunately given the first dose of the rabies vaccine and received immunoglobulin. The wound is healing nicely; we wash and disinfect it as the doctor at the emergency department recommended. The second dose is in a week, and the third in a month.
Did any of you witness the incident? Does anyone know the handler/owner of the bulldog mentioned? If so, Michał’s mother asks you to call 533 215 661.
The police are taking steps to identify the dog’s owner.
