On 10 May, officers from the Oława Road Traffic Unit conducted intensified road checks throughout the county. – In the course of their duties, at around 9:00 a.m., at the 172nd kilometre of the A4 motorway in the direction of Wrocław, officers stopped the driver of a DAF heavy goods vehicle for a road check. The vehicle was… missing a wheel! – reports asp. Aleksandra Pieprzycka from the Press Section of the Lower Silesian Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.

She adds:

It turned out that the 46-year-old driver saw no problem with the missing right wheel on the trailer’s rear axle. Despite carrying a full load, he knowingly continued driving.

The resident of Nowy Sącz County was fined. What is more, the vehicle’s registration certificate was also retained, and the driver was prohibited from continuing to drive the vehicle in an unroadworthy condition. The vehicle was towed away.

The officers say:

We remind you that the technical condition required of vehicles is specified by the Road Traffic Act.

They add:

Let us remember that by choosing to drive a vehicle in an unroadworthy condition, we endanger not only ourselves but also other road users! Be a responsible driver.
