On April 7, at approximately 4:30 p.m., officers from Oława County, traveling along the A4 motorway, spotted a man riding a bicycle at kilometer 164, heading toward Opole.
– The 55-year-old, choosing a route that cyclists are not permitted to use under the regulations, risked his life, but as he explained to the officers, his goal was noble. He was going to Strzelin for his grandson’s First Communion and wanted to give him a present. It was his own bicycle, which he was traveling on – explains asp. szt. Łukasz Dutkowiak, press spokesperson for KWP in Wrocław.
He adds: – The Wrocław resident had difficulty speaking coherently and maintaining his balance, which, as it turned out, was probably caused by alcohol he had consumed earlier.
It emerged that the imaginative cyclist was completely drunk; a test showed nearly 2.5 per mille of alcohol in his system. The officers prevented him from continuing his ride, and the case ended with a fine.
The officers:
The police remind all road users that cyclists may not use motorways or expressways!!! This also applies to traveling in the emergency lane or on the shoulder. This type of behavior poses an enormous threat to the cyclist himself and to other people traveling in vehicles.
