On Thursday, May 4, a resident of Lubań informed the police about finding unexploded ordnance near a dirt road by Brzozowa Street in Lubań. – The patrol from the Lubań County Police Headquarters, dispatched to the scene by the duty officer, confirmed that it was a 122 mm anti-tank artillery shell and could date from the period of World War II – reports Asp. Sgt. Justyna Bujakiewicz-Rodzeń, press officer of the Lubań County Police Headquarters. – The uniformed officers secured the dangerous find until the morning hours of May 5. A Bomb Disposal Patrol from the 23rd Artillery Regiment in Bolesławiec was called to the scene. The find was secured and transported to a training ground for neutralization.

Whenever we come across an object like this, let us alert the appropriate services as quickly as possible and, if we can, mark the place where the unexploded ordnance was found.

Let us remember not to touch such finds or move them elsewhere. It is strictly forbidden to pick them up, dig them out, or throw them into a fire or places such as ponds, lakes or ditches.
