– Officers from the criminal department of the Lubin police headquarters investigated burglaries and thefts from wholesalers and service establishments. During their work on the cases, police determined that the perpetrators broke into wholesale premises, taking money or entire cash boxes and safes, as well as cigarettes, reports asp. Aleksandra Pieprzycka from the Press Section of the Lower Silesian Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.
And she adds:
Investigators’ analysis showed that similar burglaries occurred in almost the entire Lower Silesia region and neighboring provinces, including in Polkowice, Legnica, Bolesławiec, Wrocław, Świdnica and Jelenia Góra. As a result of intensive operational work, criminal officers identified the men suspected of these crimes. They turned out to be three residents of Zgorzelec County, aged between 26 and 29.
The men were arrested by Lubin and Wałbrzych police officers in Wałbrzych. The spokesperson said: – The perpetrators tried to break into another wholesaler, but failed because they were frightened away by security guards. They fled the scene on foot.
However, they were quickly tracked down and arrested by police officers. Aspirant A. Pieprzycka said: – During a search of one perpetrator’s vehicle and their homes, officers found and secured a balaclava, crowbar, gloves and pepper spray. Law enforcement officers also secured more than PLN 60,000 in cash originating from the crime, as well as a stolen safe. The victims estimated their losses at more than PLN 400,000.
Two suspects were remanded in custody by the court. The officers said:
Thanks to months of hard work, investigators from the criminal investigation department collected extensive evidence, allowing them to bring as many as 54 charges against the suspects. Officers secured the arrested men’s property worth PLN 75,000 toward a future penalty. The prosecutor has already filed an indictment against the men.
Burglary carries a sentence of up to 10 years in prison.
