Officers of the Customs and Tax Service from the Lower Silesian Customs and Tax Office in Wrocław and the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters searched locations in Milików, Wykroty, Bolesławiec, Gromadka and Nowogrodziec. They detained nine people suspected of participating in a group organising illegal gambling. The investigation is supervised by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra.
The suspects were charged
Nine suspects were charged with participation in an organised criminal group involved in organising illegal gambling. Two people were charged with leading the criminal group. They face up to 10 years in prison.
Two suspects were charged with offences punishable by up to five years in prison for participation in a criminal group. The remaining suspects were charged with offences punishable by up to three years in prison for conducting illegal gambling.
At the request of the District Prosecutor, the Bolesławiec District Court ordered the temporary detention of four suspects.
Officers of the Customs and Tax Service and the Police searched the suspects’ homes. They secured the suspects’ assets, including cash, vehicles and real estate worth nearly PLN 4.5 million, mainly originating from or acquired with funds from the crimes committed.
